Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) as the implementing agency of the SR Ministry of Economy administers call for applications for grants from EU structural funds, which are designed for businesses and the public sector.

The role of the SIEA is under the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Economic Growth for 2007-2013 to implement support measures aimed at:

  • energy efficiency in production and consumption and introducing advanced technologies in energy
  • building and upgrading of public lighting for towns and villages and providing advice in the energy field
  • innovation activities in enterprises
  • innovation and technology transfers
  • building brown and green industrial parks
  • participation of Slovak manufacturers in fairs, exhibitions and trade missions
  • business activities in tourism

With effect from January 1st 2014 administered by the SIEA challenges aimed at supporting entrepreneurship in tourism, which had previously been managed by the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR).
Since December 31st, 2011 administers SIEA challenges focused on support common services for entrepreneurs, which had previously been managed by the Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade (SARIO).
Since June 11st, 2011 administers SIEA calls targeted at innovation and technology transfers designed for small and medium enterprises, which had previously been managed by the National Agency for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises.

SIEA 1. 1. 2014 has administered the 32 completed challenges that are part of the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Economic Growth. Among these were registered 5007 applications for grants. Contracts with the applicants were yet signed to 1111 project. Of this number is more than 641 projects already completed. During the three to five years after completion of the projects SIEA monitors the implementation of mandatory indicators.

In the previous programming period (2004 – 2006) SIEA admit within the Sectoral Operational Programme Industry and Services and its measures to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and applied research, support energy saving and use of renewable energy sources in total 155 projects, of which 124 projects were approved .
